About
Welcome to my lens where I try to capture 'humanity' within my photos. I am a social / documentary photographer who expects each photograph to convey feelings, and for the viewer to beg for questions…and, each image must have impact. I challenge myself by taking the works of various photographers including Fan Ho or Diedo Moriyama, and have learned to concentrate on geometric shapes to compose high contrast black and white images. In many cases people become incidentals to the overall composition.
Traditional emphasis on sharpness is tossed out, as I embrace imperfection. I prefer capturing images on ‘film’ as that allows me to express my creativity using bold lines, deep shadows etc… all ‘perfection found within imperfection’. As Ho stated with Black and White photography….'it provides a sense of distance and separation and is simplified and turns images to the abstract. The world of color is reduced to black, white and gray'....
Duane Michals is a photographer I am taking an increased interest in as he works from ‘series’ and fashions a story around one scene, one person….but multiple facets within. The great Walker Evans is another photographer I admire as my preferred style has the same basic approaches as he had in his 20th century career. Also Dorothy Lange….oh, I love her style. Of course she was a fan of Alfred Stieglitz ( Georgia O’Keefe) and I am beginning to propose a photo stint with their style in mind.
Instead of just shooting photographs, I approach my photography based upon central themes that are being more driven by societal issues. Please contact me about if you have comments.

Specifically Melbourne…1. A limited order on this Zine. A 120 page zine with around 78 images. I captured using a blend of digital and film. This is a photo-book that also shows the settings and lens used for each image. So a great way to see not only the difference between film and digital, but also what settings were used. While not necessarily a documentary-style book, it does represent a slice of life in Melbourne, Australia. Price is $30. Spiraled softcover book.
